A traditional south Indian rice made on festivals, as prasadam in temples.A tangy  flavour with crunchy peanuts .Easy to cook.

Ingridients:
Boiled white rice - 2 cups.
Tamarind - 50 grams.
Ground nuts-2 tablespoons.
Turmeric-1 teaspoon.
Dry red chillies-8.
Pepper powder-1/2 teaspoon.
Roasted jeera methi powder(roasted cumin and fenugreek seeds powder)-1 teaspoon.
Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon.
Cumin-1 teaspoon.
Curry leaves-10 leaves.
Green chillies-2(optional)
Asafoetida(Hing)- a pinch.


Tamarind Pulihora(Tamarind Rice)

Procedure:

Extract tamarind pulp adding 1.5 cups of water,boil it adding salt ,till reduces half or thick puree consistency.

Make tempering ,add 2 tablespoons of oil,Cumin,Mustard seeds,Urad Dal,Dry red chillies, groundnuts fry them till golden colour,add slit green chillies,curry leaves.
Add roasted 1 teaspoon of jeera methi powder(roasted cumin&fenu greek powder),Pepper powder,salt to rice.Mix well.
Now add the tempering and cooled tamarind pulp mix well,cover it and leave it at least 10 minutes before serving,so that rice absorbs tamarind.
