Chole Bhature

Chole Bhature

This recipe is made with plain flour(maida) or wheat flour, yogurt, ghee or oil, and either yeast or baking powder. Once kneaded well, the dough is left to rise, and then small balls flattened using a rolling pin. Then the bread pieces are deep fried until they puff up into a lightly browned, soft, fluffy bread.

 Ingredients  for chole:




1 cup chickpeas
2 tablespoons oil/ghee.
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon chilly powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1 cup onions
1and 1/2 cup tomatoes chopped
1or 2 green chillies chopped.
1 tablespoon lime juice.
1 tablespoon butter

Preparation:

Soak chickpeas over night and pressure cook till soft.

In a pan add oil, add chopped onions and saute it.
add ginger garlic paste.
then add turmeric powder,chilly powder,and chole masala,asafoetida,coriander powder,salt and fry well,until oil comes out from the gravy.

Add little water and cooked chole dal, green chillies, simmer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

Take into serving bowl ,add lime juice and chopped coriander and serve it.

Ingredients for bhature.

2 cups wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon oil.
A pinch of salt.
Water or curd to knead.
Oil for frying

For bhaturas:

Knead the whole wheat flour,salt ,baking powder together with adequate amount of water.
Leave it for an hour .
Divide it into equal portions of lemon size balls.
Roll out in an oval or round shape.
Deep fry till golden brown,like puri.
